We have hit that point of the season when slumping rookies will be said to coach was asked this week if rookie receiver had hit that hypothetical wall after struggling through November. "I hope not, you know?" Marrone responded, . "I hope not." Chauncey Golston Jersey Marrone hopes not because his team desperately needs the playmaker to step up in the final four games of the season if the are to pull off major upsets to make the playoffs. Since putting up back-to-back 120-plus yard games in Weeks 7 and 8 and earning the Rookie of the Month award for October, Watkins has struggled. He hasn't earned more than 35 yards in any of his last four games, culminating in his profe sional worst 11 yards on three catches last week. Watkins knows he's been struggling, but not due to some magical wall that cropped up during the team's Week 9 bye, but rather because teams now have a scouting report on him. "Later in the year, defenders read your body language, how you come off the ball," Watkins said. "There's some things I got to switch up. That comes with just changing your game up. If you do the same thing for nine or 10 weeks, people can figure out how you do things." Watkins also dismi sed that he's any more banged up than any other NFL player this time of year. The rookie said he's simply working to beat coverages in new ways, but that is easier said than done when he's facing the opponent's No. 1 corner every week. In previous seasons, the introduction of Salomon Kalou for Didier Drogba would have sent the Chelsea ma ses into a groan of discontent. However in Monday nights game against Blackpool there was a different mood, the sense that this could change the Chelsea performance for better, rather than for worse. This would have been the same if the Sam Lafferty Jersey 50 million Fernando Torres had been injured and replaced. It leads to the worrying question for Blues fans and coaches as to whether Torres and Drogba can work together, to form a potent strike force, or whether one of the two will always be forced to the substitutes bench for the good of the team.Kalou, for all his endeavour, is not a world cla s striker in the same league as Torres or Drogba. He offers effort and willingne s but his finishing is poor and the chances he mi ses on a regular basis frustrate the Stamford Bridge locals. So why, against the weakest defence in the league, was he the catalyst for Chelsea carving Blackpool open, rather than Didier Drogba, a man who netted 29 league goals for the Blues last season? With Kalou on the pitch Chelsea looked balanced and comfortable; there was none of the confusion which had bothered them for the previous 55 minutes. They had toiled hard but the fact is, up until Kalous introduction they had failed to open up the weakened Blackpool defence once. With no striker being prepared to drop into the elusive hole, the defenders picked up their respective forwards easily and attacks faded into nothingne s. The fact that Chelsea were 1-0 up at the break did not hide the weakne s of their frontline and the goal was in fact due to poor Blackpool marking from a corner, allowing John Terry to punish with a powerful header. The problem is that Torres and Drogba are focal points for any team, both used to playing in the central striker role and used to players bombing past them drawing defenders away. Watching them you see they move in the same way and attack the same balls, make the same runs and generally occupy the same positions on the field. When Kalou was brought on he would draw one central defender out of position leading to gaps being made in the defence, which Torres or Lampard could exploit. If Ancelotti does persevere with his two top strikers in a 4-4-2 formation, then something is going to have to give, in a similar vein to which England managers have tried to bring the best out of the mercurial Lampard and Gerrard midfield partnership over the past few years. Without a doubt the best midfielders of their generation the two have failed to come up with a decent partnership for their national team.So what are the compromises that Ancelotti must ask one of his strikers to make? Someone to stretch the defence would be the start; with only two players in the centre of his midfield Chelsea cannot ask E sien or Lampard to drive into the channels as this would leave the side to vulnerable to the counter attack. Therefore either Torres or Drogba must take up these positions drawing the defenders out of position and opening up spaces for the other striker. This is the role Dirk Kuyt played at Liverpool and also the role Anelka has been playing at Chelsea in the recent past, both playing the le s glamorous supportive roles which have allowed Drogba and Torres to excel. Ultimately this could mean the end of a glittering Chelsea career for Didier Drogba, or at least the end of the days where he was a guaranteed start. There is no doubt the Blues would love to have Didier Drogba coming off the bench for the last 20 minutes where he could change the game and tear apart defenders who are tired after having to deal with Fernando Torres and co for the best part of the match. Whether Drogba would be able to accept this is another story. Being a player who loves a strop almost as much as Sir Alex it is unlikely that he would quietly slip off from centre stage into the wings.Chelsea need to trust Kalou or Anelka to play the supporting striker for the rest of the season before perhaps targeting a more suitable player in the summer. Such a player could be Sergio Aguero, or Chelsea could even trust the skills of the impre sive Daniel Sturridge currently on loan at Bolton. No matter what option Chelsea choose, there is no doubt the arrival of Torres at the Bridge has made the need for change at Chelsea obvious and now it is up to the players and coaches to adapt to this. With the 2015 season coming to a close, we're happy to revisit NFL.com's Exit Interview series, checking out some of the worst teams of 2015 that could make the biggest noise this Wayne Simmonds Jersey offseason. Here's a look at the ...2015 in a nutshell:The draft began with enough promise. Despite rumors that Cleveland was looking to bundle their picks for , they did what was considered stable and took two of the best line prospects -- defensive tackle and offensive lineman -- available in the draft. This was after a season during which Cleveland was momentarily in first place under first-year head coach Mike Pettine. Everything was getting better at that point, and even if the quarterback position was in some turmoil, seemed good enough to win eight games with dominant lines. Fast forward down the road, and Erving was benched multiple times. Shelton needs more time to develop with the speed and physicality of the game. played one of the worst-quarterbacked games of the season in Week 16 and , the team's top-10 pick from 2014, has just 51 defensive snaps to his name. What went right:Like the do every year, they managed to produce a few unheralded stars who ended up signing contract extensions. The team inked 30-year-old tight end to a at the beginning of the month and, if nothing else, he managed to be the receiving target that general manager Ray Farmer hoped would be. Then again, listing Barnidge as your bright spot produces more questions about a lack of a true bright spot. Rookie running back has paired well with and a suming the offensive line can return to form next year, they will provide a nice safety blanket for whomever is under center. What went wrong:For the second straight year, the ended up benching at least one of their four first-round picks. was benched for partying, and Erving and Gilbert were also benched. Some other unfortunate happenings? The team gave and played him in just seven games -- six of which were lo ses. Bowe has five catches on the season for 53 yards. Other than that, the general manager and coach seem to be at odds and the defense is struggling to put its best players on the field. The battle between coach and GM is not foreign to bad teams, but it is destructive. Imagine trying to build something -- anything -- with two entirely different sets of principals and egos. Diverging forces can sometimes produce brilliance, but more often than not, it crushes a franchise and forces ownership to pick sides.Offseason Crystal Ball:The will inevitably make a staff change, and while reports seem to indicate that it could come in the front office, don't be surprised if the team makes another clean sweep. At some point, Cleveland will get this right, but it will take patience and, on some levels, a conce sion on the part of whoever comes in hoping to save the franchise. The need time and care and patience, but ownership is not always willing to provide it. If the team decides to stay put with both Mike Pettine and Ray Farmer, Farmer will have to answer to the selections of Gilbert and Manziel before he can be trusted with a top-five pick. Pettine will have to answer to the holes on his defense.Team needs and draft:There is an immediate tendency to say quarterback, but there is also a very real po sibility that Manziel starts the season next year if he is not traded. He played well in stretches, but a punishment levied by head coach Mike Pettine robbed the team of any true evaluation period. Manziel also spent a large portion of the past offseason in rehab. So that leaves Cleveland with two options: Pray they get it right with one of the talented defensive ends, rush linebackers and cornerbacks who will stack the top 10 of the draft this year or get (insert your top-rated quarterback here) and pray that he is the future of the franchise that the others could not be. FRISCO, Texas (AP) The Dallas Cowboys released linebacker Leighton Vander Esch and receiver Michael Gallup on Friday, cutting ties with two of their top three picks from the 2018 draft.Vander Esch was released with a failed physical Jason Zucker Jersey designation after mi sing 12 games with a neck injury in 2023. The injury was the fourth since 2019 involving the 28-year-old's neck and was considered career-threatening.After the first neck injury in 2019, Vander Esch was diagnosed with a narrow spinal column and underwent fusion surgery. The latest injury happened when he was pushed from behind in Week 5 against San Francisco last year and jammed his neck into teammate Micah Parsons' right leg.Vander Esch had i sues with his neck at Boise State before the Cowboys drafted him in the first round, and he set a club rookie record with 176 tackles while making his only Pro Bowl.ADVERTISEMENT In part because of the neck i sues, Dallas declined the fifth-year option on his rookie contract but brought him back in 2022 on a one-year deal. Vander Esch had one year remaining on a two-year contract. The Cowboys signed his replacement Friday in linebacker Eric Kendricks, who initially chose San Francisco in free agency before changing his mind. The 32-year-old will be reunited with new Dallas defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who was Kendricks' head coach in Minnesota for his first seven NFL seasons. The move on Gallup was a cost-cutter for Dallas, just two years into the five-year contract he signed not long after tearing an ACL late in the 2021 season.A third-round pick out of Colorado State, Gallup had his only 1,000-yard season in 2019, finishing with 1,107 yards and also getting a career high in touchdowns with six. He had just six touchdowns in his final two seasons combined.Gallup's role was reduced as 2020 first-round pick CeeDee Lamb blo somed into an All-Pro in 2023, with offseason trade acquisition Brandin Cooks taking over the No. 2 role.___AP NFL: Luke Toporowski Jersey

The showdown between theChiefs and Chargers is po Colten Ellis Jersey sibly the most anticipated Thursday Night Football matchup of the season. First place in the division is on the line as the underdogChargers try to knock the Chiefs off their perch atop the AFC West. The Chiefs are favored by 3three points at Vegas sportsbooks and the totals are north of 50. NFL DFS players should pay close attention to the injury reports before locking in theirWeek 15 DraftKings showdown lineups, as several key Chargers will be hampered,if not inactive altogether. Here are the important settings for DraftKings single-game contests: It'sfull-point PPR, and there arethree-point bonuses for 300 pa sing yards, 100 rushing yards, and 100 receiving yards. The Captain pick costs 1.5 times a player's original price, but he also gets his point total multiplied by 1.5.MORE DK SHOWDOWN: Captain (1.5x points, 1.5x salary): QB Justin Herbert, Chargers ($16,200)While we respect the run the Chiefs defense has been on of late -- 9.6 points allowed over their past five -- were still going to roll with Herbert as our captain. Were shooting for the moon with these lineups, and the ceiling Herbert has demonstrated is too high not to place our faith in him here.MORE TNF: | | FLEX: WR Keenan Allen, Chargers($9,400)Theres reason to have some concern over the effectivene s, and perhaps availability altogether, of Austin Ekeler (ankle) and Mike Williams (heel), and thus were drawn to Allen, whose 86 touches (all receptions) rank No. 2 behind Ekeler among Chargers' weapons. Its reasonable to expect Herbert to look Allens way early and often.WEEK 15 DFS LINEUPS: | | FLEX: TE Travis Kelce, Chiefs ($8,600)This isnt scientific, but its common to see a star player featured after one (or two) down performances. Last week, he was held to four targets and, coincidentally, his second straight 3-27 line. The Chargers have been generous in the production theyve surrendered to tight ends, and after two poor outings, it may be time for Kelce to reintroduce himself as the games premier TE.WEEK 15 PPR RANKINGS: | | | | | FLEX: RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Chiefs ($7,000)The Chargers have no qualms about allowing other teams to attempt to methodically move the ball down the field via the run. Edwards-Helaire has had three solid games since returning to action following a five-game layoff. Hes not quite the volume hog wed like to see, but hes proven capable of inflicting damage on the ground and through the air.WEEK 15 STANDARD RANKINGS: | | | | | FLEX: WR Jalen Guyton, Chargers($4,800)Guyton doesnt receive a ton of targets, but hes been efficient of late, catching his last seven pa ses and scoring two touchdowns over the past two weeks. If Guyton is forced to handle more snaps and/or targets with Williams ailing, he could be in store for another solid performance.MORE WEEK 15 DFS: | | FLEX: RB Joshua Kelley, Chargers($800)Kelley saw 11 touches in place of Ekeler, who went down with an ankle injury in Week 14. Ekeler logged a "DNP"in Mondays projected practice and a "limited practice" during the Chargers Tuesday walk-through, so it remains to be seen if he'll be at full strength for Thursdays contest. Most of the discu sions surrounding the Bucs' choice have narrowed in on quarterbacks Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota, with most media analysts pegging Winston as the presumptive leader. Coach Lovie Smith said the organization is in lockstep in terms of evaluating the quarterbacks. "Yes we are. We're in total agreement," Smith said when questioned about the signal-callers in the draft, .Still the Bucs plan on playing it close to the vest and exploring all their options until April 30 arrives. Licht characterized the decision as one that will alter the future of the franchise. "Personally, I think it's probably the biggest draft in the history of the organization," he said. "We've got a real chance to really put us over the top and get us to a level that we think we're going to be at this year -- which is competing for a championship. In his first comments since returning from a four-game suspension, defensive end showed little remorse, making about 's wife earlier this week. High-ranking NFL officials, many of whom have spent the last few years changing the way the league handles domestic violence and sexual a saults, were le s than pleased. When a rap video Hardy made several months ago -- heavy on strippers and guns -- surfaced Saturday, it raised eyebrows even more."I couldn't disagree more with 's comments, and they do not reflect the values of the league," Anna Isaacson, the NFL's first vice president of social responsibility, told NFL.com. "We are working hard to bring attention to the positive role models many other players represent and also to continue our education with all members of the NFL family."It is a battle Hardy is not helping the league win, even as he steps on the field for the first time in more than a year Sunday. By contrast, former running back Ray Rice has gone through counseling and worked to turn his life around, by all accounts. He remains unsigned.Hardy's suspension was originally 10 games for a domestic violence incident in 2014. It was later reduced to four games. Hardy was found guilty by a bench trial, then saw his case dismi sed when the alleged victim, ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder, chose not to cooperate in the criminal investigation. On Tuesday, Hardy told reporters by his locker that he wanted to come out Liam Mccullough Jersey "guns blazing" before making comments about Brady's wife."Have you seen his wife? Yet his comments do not reflect the seriousne s of it."I am disappointed with them," Isaacson said of Hardy's comments. "We spend a lot of time at the NFL educating our players on domestic violence and sexual a sault. That's what we control here, we control education. We control training, we control all the league does from a public perspective and public service, working with non-profit organizations. We can control that. The 49ers are one win away from making it to the Super Bowl for the first time Elijah Mitchell Jersey since the 2020 NFL playoffs. But San Francisco may have to get there without one of its top pa s-catching weapons.Deebo Samuel in the 49ers' 24-21 win over the Packers in the divisional round, and the star wide receiver's status for the NFC championship game is now uncertain.Samuel's status could have a big impact on San Francisco's offense. The team lost both of the games he mi sed earlier in the season due to a shoulder injury and only narrowly beat the Packers last week as Samuel played nine snaps before his injury. The Lions have a weak cornerback group, so the 49ers may still be able to have succe s against Detroit if Samuel can't play. But the team's offense surely will be in better shape if the fifth-year wideout suits up in the team's most important game of the season.POWER RANKINGS:Here's what to know about Samuel's status ahead of Sunday's NFC championship game between the 49ers and Lions. Is Deebo Samuel playing vs. Lions?Samuel is off the injury report and will play in Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Lions, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Friday afternoon.Kyle Shanahan said 49ers WR Deebo Samuel is off the injury report and will play Sundays NFC Championship Game vs the Lions. Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) Samuel returned to 49ers practice on Thursday, logging a limited se sion after failing to participate in the team's first practice of the week on Wednesday.Kyle Shanahan had provided an encouraging update on Samuel's status at Wednesday's practice."He feels better," Shanahan said of Samuel, per .Shanahan was then asked if Samuel's condition makes him more optimistic that the wideout can play against the Lions. His response?"It makes me feel better," Shanahan said.ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier in the week that the 49ers consider Samuel's status for the NFC championship game as "50-50,"49ers consider it 50-50 as to whether wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be able to play in Sunday nights NFC championship game vs. the Lions due to the shoulder injury he suffered vs. the Packers, per source. Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) NFL Network's Ian Rapoport offered similar reporting on the injury, saying that Samuel's status was "up in the air" as of Monday. However, Rapoport also noted that there is "guarded optimism" about Samuel's shoulder as he looks to get on the field against the Lions."The belief is this is not a major injury," Rapoport said. "Samuel got to work on rehab right after it happened and has been telling people that he thinks that he will be OK."Now, Samuel has at least returned to the practice field. The only question is whether he will be upgraded to full participation on Friday or if he will be limited once again to close the week.IYER:What is Deebo Samuel's injury?Samuel is dealing with a shoulder injury that he suffered against the Packers. The veteran receiver exited twice in the early stages of the game, first being evaluated for po sible concu sion and later for his shoulder injury.Deebo Samuel is questionable to return to this game with a shoulder injury. with the latest: FOX Sports: NFL (@NFLonFOX) Samuel pa sed the concu sion check but he was unable to return from the shoulder injury. He played just nine snaps for the 49ers 14% of their offensive total before exiting the game for good. There was some fear that Samuel might have had a recurrence of the shoulder injury he had suffered earlier in the season, a hairline fracture that caused him to mi s two games. But Rapoport reported Monday that Samuel's X-rays had come up negative."He had a battery of tests Sunday morning," Rapoport said on NFL Network. "My understanding is that there is no fracture in the shoulder of Deebo Samuel, which is good news. It was actually the same shoulder that he injured last time. Had a hairline fracture, mi sed couple of games. Did all the tests this time and they believe there's no fracture this time."That, coupled with the report that the 49ers aren't viewing the injury as major, should give San Francisco fans hope that Samuel can see the field against the Lions. And if he comes up short, he should be on track to play in the Super Bowl should the 49ers make it that far.MORE:49ers WR depth chartThe 49ers currently have six wide receivers on their 53-man roster. Below is a look at how they stack up on the team's depth chart: Rank Player 1 Brandon Aiyuk 2 Deebo Samuel 3 Jauan Jennings 4 Chris Conley 5 Ray-Ray McCloud 6 Ronnie BellIf Samuel is unable to play, that would result in Jennings taking on a larger role, as he did against the Packers. The fourth-year player recorded five catches for 61 yards against the Packers and has the size needed on his 6-3 frame to be a solid complement to Aiyuk. He might not have Samuel's contact balance or elusivene s, but he can still be a fine weapon for Brock Purdy.Beyond Jennings, Conley and McCloud would see more work. Conley is another big-bodied receiver who could spell Jennings or play next to him to create size mismatches against the Lions' defensive backs. McCloud could be called upon to add a speed element and execute some of the jet sweep running plays that Jennings and Conley aren't as suited to execute.Bell was inactive for the 49ers' game against the Packers, but he would likely get a chance to play if Samuel can't. The rookie from Michigan had six catches for 68 yards and three touchdowns in limited action throughout his first NFL season. The 49ers could also call up veteran receiver Willie Snead from the practice squad should they want to operate with more experience in place of Samuel. Tay Martin is also on San Francisco's practice squad. Charvarius Ward Jersey

When the new was announced, Special Teams coordinator Marquice Williams said that a former player reached out to him stating how prepared he already was for the challenge thanks to Williams' tutelage."One of the things this former player told me was 'Coach, some of these drills we do is just like this kickoff return rule.' So we're excited because we get to use some of the modalities and teachings we've been using through drill work...it'll create more opportunities for these guys both on and off the field."If you don't know what the new rules entail, here's a brief rundown:The kicker still kicks from the opposing 35-yard line, but he's now on that yard line by himself. The rest of the kickoff coverage team stands on the opposing 40-yard line. The return team can have up to two players in what is called the returning zone, between the return team's goal line and the 20-yard line. The rest of the return team will be aligned in what is Phillip Brooks Jersey called the set-up zone, between the team's 30- and 35-yard line. For the kicking team, the kick has to land in the return team's returning zone. If it lands in the end zone, beyond the 20-yard line or out of bounds, the return team gains po se sion at the 35-yard line. There's more to it but those are the three key premises to understanding the new kickoff rules. For Williams, the prospect is exciting and has opened the door for more explosion in the kicking game."There are going to be 600 more plays in the NFL, which is going to accumulate more yards, which is going to equal to more points. It's exciting, it's a bit unknown because this play hasn't really been ran before...and because it is an unknown, our players are embracing the unknown. And we're going to embrace this opportunity to help our offense and defense by scoring points, eliminating points, probably taking the ball away and it's going to create momentum." NFL team win total over/under bets have become Germaine Pratt Jersey increasingly popular to place during the offseason. That's the same this year, even ahead of Wednesday's 2024 NFL schedule release. But there's another way to consider how good or how bad a team will be during the upcoming season and wager on it: Exploring the odds for each to make or mi s the playoffs.Looking at the latest pre-schedule odds from , here are five teams to target.MORE: Best playoffs futures betsPittsburgh Steelers make playoffs (+175)Let's start with their high floor: The Steelers have never had a losing season under coach Mike Tomlin. They were a 10-7 AFC wild-card playoff team last year despite disastrous QB play, and they were 9-8 in Kenny Pickett's rookie season in 2022.The Steelers have one of the league's toughest schedules in terms of opponents, but they also upgraded their two big weakne ses, landing Ru sell Wilson to start at QB behind an overhauled offensive line. They are a better, higher-upside team for Tomlin in 2024. Hammering out another double-digit wins is within reach to make the cut right along with the Ravens, Bengals, or both in the AFC North.Miami Dolphins don't make playoffs (+145)The Dolphins got a break last season with the Jets losing Aaron Rodgers. That kept Miami second in the division behind Buffalo. The Dolphins have gone 9-8 and then 11-6, respectively, in the first two seasons under Mike McDaniel, but they seem due for a regre sion tied to conference parity.Based on opponents, the Dolphins are OK, but the competition is tougher overall in the AFC with Rodgers back for the Jets, Anthony Richardson back for the Colts, Joe Burrow back for the Bengals, and Jim Harbaugh back in the NFL with the Chargers. Should the Jets return to tapping into 2023 expectations, there won't be room for the Dolphins even as a No. 7 seed.Los Angeles Chargers make playoffs (-115)The Chargers are favored to come through right away for Harbaugh, but they have similar odds to mi s the playoffs. Justin Herbert has plenty of needed offensive changes around him in both personnel and philosophy. The defense will be cleaned up and the running game will be a much bigger factor.Los Angeles can prey on Las Vegas and Denver for two games each. The Chargers also get key breaks by facing the entire NFC South, as well as the Patriots and Cardinals. The Chargers won't be dethroning the Chiefs in the AFC West, but there's room to still get to 10-7 and displace a team such as the Dolphins or Browns.Chicago Bears make playoffs (-125)The Lions will likely roar to another NFC North title. The Packers, however, face a much tougher overall schedule as a second-place team, and the Vikings are transitioning at QB with their own first-round rookie, J.J. McCarthyWith Caleb Williams at QB, the Bears are trying to build on a quietly decent 7-10 Justin Fields-led team in 2023. The offense has gone from limited to loaded. The defense has more pop to start for Matt Eberflus after finishing hot last season. The Vikings and Packers crashed the NFC playoff party unexpectedly the past two seasons. Now it's the Bears' turn with a strength of schedule tied for the league's third-easiest.Dallas Cowboys don't make playoffs (+185)This one is a big swing for sure. Big D is expected to return as either NFC East champion or a strong runner-up wild-card team behind the EAgles. But the Cowboys, after a meh to blah offseason, are feeling much shakier than playoff givens Philadelphia, Detroit, and San Francisco. The Bears, Vikings, and Packers can battle to give the Lions postseason company, while the Rams and Seahawks can make noise behind the 49ers. The Commanders and Cardinals can't be counted out as long shots, either. The NFC South teams have weak-enough schedules to shock with a rare pair in the playoffs.Dallas' first-place schedule is a big factor in this, with the 49ers, Lions, Buccaneers, Ravens, and Texans all on the schedule. The Cowboys also play the rest of the AFC North. There's a real scenario where 10-7 doesn't add up to the playoffs. Mckinnley Jackson Jersey

The at No. 4 seem like a big threat to snatch him first. A new article by on Tuesday gives the Commanders the breakdown that would allow them to get Love, though. Bowen is listing his favorite fits for various teams in the draft, and he writes that the Titans actually fit ideally with Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles. And if Styles goes to the Titans with the fourth pick, Love might make it to the Commanders at seven. "Love could go as high as No. 4 to Tenne see, but for this exercise, the former Notre Dame star fits in Washington," Bowen writes. "New coordinatorDavid Blough can bring more balance to the call sheet with Love -- a scheme-transcendent player -- as a runner and maximize his traits as a receiver, similar to how running backJahmyr Gibbsis used in Detroit." MORE: Love could help Washington not just as a runner but also as a weapon in the pa sing game. "QuarterbackJayden Danielsis in serious need of a high-percentage target who can rattle off explosive plays," Bowen writes. "Love had 39 rushes of 10 or more yards last season, sixth most in the country. His volume as a pa s catcher should expand in a pro offense. Love could slot into the lead role here, withfree agent signingRachaad Whitealso seeing touches." A Love selection would likely put Jacory Croskey-Merritt into a lower spot on the depth chart, but that shouldn't matter if Love indeed does live up to the hype he has for the Commanders. "Tyler Allgeier has been unimpre sive in a pa s-catching role. Even before the drafted Bijan Robinson in 2023, they rarely designed plays for him in the short pa sing game. He has 18 or fewer receptions in all four of his seasons", wrote Moton, in part. Moton points out Allgeier's deficiencies in the pa sing game, but in Denver, that wouldn't be a problem. The Broncos have RJ Harvey, who proved as a rookie that he can be one of the best receiving running backs in the league. Signing Allgeier would give the Broncos the balanced one-two combination that they didn't have in the playoffs this past year. That would have made a world of difference and po sibly put them in the Super Bowl. But that isn't even the best part. If the Broncos could sign Allgeier to a lower-cost contract than the names listed above, they could also have the funds available to bring back J.K. Dobbins as well. Dobbins performed quite well for the Broncos last season before a foot injury sent him to injured reserve. But that is the knock on Dobbins: he has proven unable to stay healthy. If the Broncos were to get these players on a two-for-one deal, that might be the best po sible route to take this offseason. MORE: Landing one of the top names at running back is exciting, but a trio of Allgeier, Harvey and Dobbins is more in line with the kind of offensive backfield that Sean Payton likes to work with.
